Nagkani, which translates to "Cactus," is a project that delves into multiple aspects of design, from motif creation to pattern placement and pattern making. The project is inspired by the unique and resilient nature of cacti, reflecting these qualities in its approach to design.
It begins with the development of distinctive motifs, inspired by the form and texture of cacti, which are then intricately integrated into the overall design. The project explores how these motifs can be effectively placed and utilized within various patterns to create visually compelling and cohesive designs.
Pattern making is a crucial element of the project, where the challenge lies in translating the motifs into functional and aesthetically pleasing garment patterns. This involves detailed work to ensure that the designs are not only visually striking but also practical and well-constructed. Through Nagkani, the project captures the essence of the cactus, embracing its unique characteristics and translating them into a sophisticated design process that spans from conceptualization to final garment creation.
